What is the Students’ Union Helpline?

• Anonymous hotline counseling by trained staff of the Society for Psychotherapy:
At 01/585 33 33, a helpline has been set up which students can contact when they suffer, for example: excessive demand, mental problems… The helpline is run by specially trained staff members of the Society for Psychotherapy and is the first contact for students in need.
After the first consultation there are different opportunities for further discussion and / or psychological care.

• Advice from the Social Department of the Federal Students’ Union
If one is overwhelmed by the study or have organizational or financial problems without psychological symptoms, these students are recommended to consult the Social Department of the federal Students’ Union.

• Opportunities for further consultation
If there is a serious concern, there is also the possibility of an initial personal consultation with a trained staff of the Society for Psychotherapy and to discuss specific problems. Then you have the possibility to get access to psychological help mediated.

• Peer group therapy pilot project
In less serious problems students are already helped to have a space where they can interact with other students with similar issues. To allow this direct assistance by students for students and to promote, in cooperation with the representative study psychology at the University of Vienna, Free group therapy offered by peers. Can students who have participated in a group therapy, then also let themselves to educate peers and participate in the project. In peer group therapy is initially a pilot project in Vienna that will be expanded in positive feedback from the students on the whole of Austria.

Is determined by the telephone counseling or advice that a serious mental illness or depression is present, then it is possible the psychotherapy fund the federal student union representation to get a therapy place financed. Red tape and without long waiting times we want to help students who would otherwise suffer from long waiting times.

Study representatives:   
You can elect directly 5 candidates (for fine arts) as study representatives respectively 3 (in other studies) It’s an election of a person, the mode of the election does not allow to candidate as a group, if people work together collectively as study representatives every person of a specific group has to be voted.
Following study representatives can be voted for: Conservation and Restoration, Education in the Arts (Contextual Design, Textile Arts, Art Education), Fine Arts, Architecture, Doctorate Studies,  new>>Master in Critical Studies

University representation (UV):      
Represents the interests of all students at the University. Supports the students concerns in different committees, towards the ministries and the public. The University representation sends also one Person into the federal representation of the ÖH. Here you can only elect a list.

As you may have heard, starting with the summer semester 2013 tuition fees have been reintroduced in Austria, in addition to the Student Union (ÖH) fees. The Erlagscheine have been posted, you may already have received yours or soon will. Please go to Studienabteilung if you do not receive your Erlagschein by 1 March.

Please note that there are many exceptions, which means that not everyone will be charged tuition fees. Moreover, in case of illness, participation in international mobility programmes etc. you will not have to pay student fees, either.

In principle, you will be charged student feels only once you exceed the regular study time for a Bachelor, Master or Doctorate by more than two semesters. If you study a Diploma programme, you may exceed each Studienabschnitt by two semesters before you are getting charged the fees. As long as you stay in this time frame (regular study time plus 2 semesters) you will not be charged any tuition fees.

Once you have to pay, tuition fees will be 363,36 € per semester (for Austrian and EU students) and 726,72 € per semester (for students coming from non-EU countries).

Students who hold citizenship of one of the countries which are named in addendums 1, 2, and 3 of the bylaw on tuition fees, will not have to pay any tuition fees. The lists with these countries in addition to other detailed information on who has to pay tuition fees can be found on our website at http://www.akbild.ac.at/portal_en/studies/studieninfos_en/tuition-fee/new-rules-for-tuition-fees-from-summer-semester-2009?set_language=en&cl=en .

If you have any questions on these fees once you have received the Erlagschein, please go to Studienabteilung BEFORE you pay this amount.

For those of you who have to pay the fees, there will be a scholarship by which you may receive a refund for the the fee. I will send out more information on this scholarship in the course of the summer semester.

Group and Single Projects from the following areas: artistic, educational, political,
feminist, gender, anti-discrimination. We also encourage applications for political projects
that are not necessarily art related.

Please note: for political projects you have more chances of receiving a more substantial
fund from the Student Union Bundesvertretung. (We can provide more info.)

WHO AND HOW OFTEN
Anyone from inside or outside of the Academy can apply for project support. 
The same person can apply twice a year: either for a Single Project, as part of a Group Project, or with a political project.

NOT SUPPORTED
- Diploma Projects
- Political Projects (There is a separate open call for political projects)
- Projects that are carried out as part of a Seminar or that are organised as a „Class-project.“
- Projects that are party political or that are implemented in events that have a prevalent party political character.
- Projects that have a prevalent commercial character or that are implemented in events that have a prevalent commercial character.
- Projects that are implemented in other cultural institutions that normally give support (galleries, museums, cultural institutions).
- Periodical publications can be supported just once.

HOW DOES PAYMENT WORK    
If your project gets funded, you will be informed per email about the amount of money granted to you. Please submit not lader than 10.06.2013, the following documents to the Finance Department of the Student Union (oehfinanzreferat@akbild.ac.at):
·    Some documentation of the finished or ongoing project (photos, website, etc.)
·    Refund Application Form SIGNED
·    Relevant bills IN ORIGINAL (Please read the Funding Guidelines!)
 
Payment is possible only after the submission of the above mentioned documents. The bills that you submit must be from the period of time in which your project took place. Please respect the Refund Application Deadline: 10.06.2013. If this is not possible, please reapply in October 2014.
 
Without the submission of the above mentioned documents, respecting the above mentioned deadlines, the project funding and the payout of the refund is not possible!

REFUND GUIDELINES

Material costs – Generally supported
. Equipment rental -Only if not available at the Academy
. Equipment purchasing – Only if not available at the Academy
When the equipment costs more than 100€ it will be considered the Student Union’s possession,
and has to be returned at the end of the project.
. Space rental – Generally supported. Please consider the Academy spaces or other cheap or free possibilities first. Explain your choice.
. Publications – Please submit price proposals from 3 different providers.
If you must choose the most expensive one, please explain your choice.
Nonprofit oriented publications are favored.
Periodical publications can be supported only once.
.Travel expenses – Transport. Please submit price proposals from 3 different providers. Please try to find the cheapest solutions. Unjustified travel expenses and tourism will not be supported.
.Travel expenses – Other Accommodation bills cannot be accepted.
Meals (restaurants, fast foods, Supermarkets, etc.) will not be supported.
.Conferences, seminars, symposia – Will be supported only if the information and experience accumulated will be shared with other students (workshop, project, exhibition, seminar, article, etc.)
.Fees and Honoraria – Only thirt-party fees and honoraria will be supported. Please justify your need of third-parties.
